So lads, we are falling behind the girls… apparently we are the
“well behaved” ones when it comes to our last night of freedom and there’s
proof of it too. Time to step up our game….

Stags are MORE sensible than hens! Men pay less and behave better than women when celebrating their last night of freedom
·
31% more men fell into the 'sensible' category when
preparing
·
33% admitted to following rigid saving plans to
attend
·
14% of men said stag parties had become too long,
expensive and involved
·
Average stag costs £153 per person
While the words ‘stag do’ immediately conjure the sort of chaotic scenes
immortalised in The Hangover film, it seems British men should be given a bit
more credit for their behaviour surrounding their pre-wedding party habits.
According to the latest study (and contrary to popular belief), men are
far more sensible than women when it comes to financial preparations for stag
or hen nights - and a sight more sensible when they're on the do itself.
Research into the spending habits of stags and hens showed that in
saving and budgeting for the trip, 31 per cent more men than women fell into
the ‘sensible’ category.
Not quite The Hangover: According to the latest study, men are more
sensible than women when it comes to preparing to attend stag or hen nights
Nearly a third of males said they pre-planned a budget and stuck to it,
compared to only a fifth of females who could claim the same.
A sixth of men said they felt stag parties had become too long, too
expensive and too involved in recent years.
Further findings revealed that while women may not be the best at
saving, they do have finances in mind: 14 per cent more women than men said
they would decline an invite if they felt it was too expensive, and said they
would be more inclined to only attend the events of very close friends and
family.
Men said they would be more likely to attend certain parts of the
celebration if they couldn’t afford the entire schedule.
When questioned about their motivation for advanced planning, almost all
men with partners agreed that justifying the expense to their other half was a
consideration.
It comes as no surprise that men want to save because resent research
found that the average cost of a stag party is £153 per person and a hen
party now reaching £157.
The study, carried out by Stag Company and Hen Heaven, found that
spending had soared by over 50 percent over the past five years as it appears
that no matter the economic situation people will find the money to give their
friend a memorable send-off.
Hens do it best: 14 per cent of men said they felt stag parties had
become too long, expensive and involved in recent years, whereas women are more
likely to splurge to enjoy hen dos
Even though the UK has been in the grips of recession twice in the past
five years, the average cost per party member on stag and hen weekends has
risen year on year since 2008.
The average cost of a stag do has risen from £91 in 2008 to £153 in
2013, while hens now spend £157 compared to £102 in 2008.
Chris Perrett from iLikeOffers.co.uk, who carried out the research,
said: 'This is the kind of careful organisation we would associate more with
the female population, but clearly there's no accounting for the motivational
power of stag dos.
'So sacred is the event that three quarters of male participants
admitted to prioritising the stag over the wedding in terms of spending.' " - Daily Mail 2013
